Climate Reality KING COUNTY - 7 Days to Election Day!
7 days(!) until Election Day and there is still time to impact both local and federal elections. Whether you’ve been in it for the long haul or are ready to put in some time just this last week to take it over the finish line, let’s make it NO REGRETS that we should have/could have done more once the ballots are counted!
In WA the two climate “unfriendly” initiatives are I-2117 & I-2066. How about let’s all Vote No on Both!
For the “No on I-2117” campaign, there are still opportunities to volunteer with phone banks or canvassing. Link for more info: Vote NO on Initiative 2117
For the “No on I-2066” here’s some analysis to share with friends & family: Correcting the Record on Initiative 2066 - Sightline Institute.
An excerpt: Initiative 2066 would add new language to state statute that prevents the state energy code from “prohibiting, penalizing, or discouraging” the use of gas in any building. The initiative would also eliminate Washington’s longstanding requirement that the energy code help achieve emissions-free new construction.
Welcome to West Seattle & VOTE!
Nationally, a lot is on the line to say the least. I’m personally volunteering with Environmental Voter Project to help turnout low-propensity environmental voters, and there are plenty of phone bank shifts open up to and including election day. Connect with your favorite climate group(s) for both volunteer & donation opportunities. Let’s not leave anything on the table.
Climate Reality Project created the following climate action we can all do, especially if you know friends/family in swing states: Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada, Georgia, and Arizona. Maybe you have a niece or nephew that just turned 18. BINGO! Text them! The link climaterealityproject.org/vote provides links to check your voter registration, register to vote, or find a polling place.

I just attended the recent virtual training with Al Gore, and again heard him remind us “The antidote to climate despair is climate action.” We each have unique life experiences with gifts, connections and insights. Look around to find the thing that no one else is doing that needs to be done. Do that thing!
