Welcome New Members!

Welcome to all those who recently completed Climate Reality training! Along with other climate groups in WA, and around the country, excitement is building around the rollout of many more rebates from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The Justice40 component is woven throughout the IRA, including free heat pumps, induction stoves and more to assist those least able to financially transition off of fossil fuels. The IRA embodies much of what The Climate Reality Project along with many activists has been working toward for many years, and now there’s a clear line of sight ahead to SPREAD THE WORD!!! Also, see below for an upcoming event on July 25th where former Vice President Al Gore and Climate Reality President and CEO Phyllis Cuttino will share the vision and plan for how we will pull on the levers of power in four key areas. More to come!

Here is some GREAT news — a solution to the climate crisis is at hand, we just need to hurry up and implement it! The three things we need to do:

1. Clean the electric grid.

2. Electrify all vehicles.

3. Electrify all fossil fuel uses in our buildings — from space heating to cooking

Climate Reality King County Chapter Invited to Table at Starbucks Sustainability Fair

Starbucks’ Climate Reality Changemakers group has many trained Climate Reality trained leaders, both previous and newly trained. Lots of interest in the IRA was expressed throughout the day by Starbucks Partners. It was fun event with many vendors. July 25th: “The Road to True Net-Zero: Climate Reality's 2030 Vision,” a conversation with former Vice President Al Gore and Climate Reality President and CEO Phyllis Cuttino. They’ll share our vision and plan for how we will pull on the levers of power in four key areas that can unlock the transformational changes we need this decade to reach true net-zero by 2050.

We’ll be hosting two sessions – one at 6 AM PT and one at 5 PM PT. Please register for whichever time you prefer. The sessions are only open to our community of global Climate Reality Leaders, chapter members, partners, and network of supporters. You will be able to submit questions to the panelists live during the webinar.

SAVE THE DATE: September 11th 7:00 PM: Climate Reality King County is hosting a ZOOM event to learn about Citizens Climate Lobby (CCL): An overview of fee & dividend and more about the bipartisan PROVE IT Act which has been introduced in the Senate and will soon be introduced in the House. The PROVE IT Act measures the carbon emissions of certain goods in the U.S. and other nations, which can lay the foundation for a carbon border tariff (CBAM) in the U.S.. Discussion welcome!
